Don’t take this personally, but…

Don’t take this personally, but…

If you take feedback personally, you are not alone.

Many leaders have shared with me that as much as they try to be open to receiving feedback, they take it personally.  If you struggle with this, you are not alone.

Here are three simple tips for how to not take feedback personally:

  1. Separate yourself as a person, from what you do. You are not what you do.

  2. The feedback offered to you is not about you as a person, it’s about your ability to perform a task, or your behaviour, or your decision etc.

  3. Know that your worth and value as a person does not come from your work, or your ability to perform a task.

If this resonates for you, and you would like to be able to apply it when it comes to receiving feedback, sing out and we can have a conversation to get you started.
